JVCA, Inc. Head Start's principle goal is to provide comprehensive services to families of children ages three(3) to five(5). The services we provide will be individualized to help the families meet their needs so that the Head Start child will be healthy, well-fed, and socially and emotionally ready for their school experience; and the family will be stable, independent, and empowered to meet their future needs.
The parent is the first and most influential educator of their child.

or Head Start is the foremost child development program in the United States. Head Start provides educational experiences, health services, parent involvement and social services to give a "head start" to economically disadvantaged and/or disabled 3-5 year olds and their families. All Head Start services
provided by J.V.C.A., Inc. Head Start are offered free of charge to all
enrolled children. Income eligibility is Childcare services before and after the Head Start day are available at the Outpost Center in Jackson. If you are in need of before and after child care, fees and payment options will need to be explained on an individual basis depending on the family's ability to receive subsidized child care through the Department of Jobs and Family Services. If the family does not qualify for subsidized childcare, private pay options will be explained. JVCA, Inc. Head Start offers two program options: ( 1.) HOME BASED- In this program a Home Visitor will come to your home once each week for 1/12 hours. A typical home visit will be:20-30 MINUTES- FORMAL ACTIVITIES in which the Home Visitor and parent/guardian check the child's progress and choose new activities for parent/guardian/child to do during the next week. 30-35 MINUTES - INFORMAL ACTIVITIES in which the parent/guardian and Home Visitor do a variety of play-learning activities with all the children in the home. 20-35 MINUTES - PARENT/GUARDIAN EDUCATION which is the time the parent/guardian and Home Visitor plan new activities, share information about the program, and discuss family concerns. Home Based children attend the socialization site every other week on their assigned day. ( 2.) CENTER BASED - Our center based program offers the following convient time schedules: JACKSON COUNTY - Morning Option - 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM Monday-Thursday; Afternoon Option - 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM Monday-Thursday; Extended Day Option - 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday-Thursday. These options are offered at our Milton and Outpost Centers. VINTON COUNTY - Extended Day Option - 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday-Thursday. Two classrooms available for enrollment.
